Our first order of business was to go straight to Splash Mountain, my favorite ride!! But sadly, it was closed for repair. Saaaad. :( One of the costumed Briar bears was walking toward us as the kids & I were doing cartwheels. So, he did one too! ha ha! Then he gave the kids high-fives. :) After that we went to our first ride, Pirates of the Caribbean. It's a classic. Simple but fun. I haven't been on that ride since Johnny Depp played Capt. Jack Sparrow in the movies, so seeing his animated mannequin was cool! Charlie didn't love it though. So we headed on to Aladdin's Magic Carpet Ride. (Which is exactly like the flying Dino ride AND Dumbo.) The littles like those rides! We saw Jasmine & Aladdin taking pictures with other kids so I asked Jo & the boys if they wanted to, but they were a mix of not interested and too shy. :) So we went right over to the Swiss Family Robinson's tree house. Perry was excited about that because he read the book at home recently. He also saw a boy he knew from school! SO many people from Fishers were there the same week as us. Especially people from our ward.
We headed over to the Buzz Light year ride. You had to blast all the Zurgs and earn points. The scores were: Mommy 61000, Daddy- 43000, Perry- 12000, Charlie 2600, Josie & Kaden both got 2000. Then we went over to watch a comedy show at the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor. It was pretty funny and we were entertained.
Next we went to People Movers and rode the little tram throughout Fantasy land. It should be named "People Watchers" cuz that's what you do on it. :) We let the kids drive on the Speedway ride. Kaden rode his own car. Chuck & Jo took turns driving me around (or rather giving me whiplash!). And Perry drove Daddy. It's obvious none of our children are ready to drive yet! ha ha
After we moved on to my least favorite ride of my childhood: The Teacups. Guaranteed to make me sick! So the ones with weak stomachs rode with me (Perry & Charlie) and the adventure lovers who don't get nauseated easily, rode in Daddy's teacup. We didn't spin ours at all... Daddy did nothing but spin their cup out of control!! Josie couldn't even keep her head up straight! But she & Kaden laughed and giggled the whole time!
Next was Goofy's Barnstormer roller coaster. (that LDS family from yesterday was in line next to us again! So we talked a little more this time.) It was Josie & Charlie's first roller coaster. We got some super cute funny videos of those two! It was a short 26sec long ride, but it was obvious that Josie is a thrill seeker... she loved every single ride! We all enjoyed it.
Lunch time was a real eye-opener. We ate our packed lunches next to an ice-cream shop. Daddy decided to treat the kids to a small cup of candy corn flavored ice cream, because they've been really good the last 2 days. Even though it's wearing them out and we can tell they're tired, they have behaved well. So daddy bought 5 ice creams with an extra empty cup. When Jo saw daddy scooping half of one cup into the empty cup and that she & Charlie were going to share, she instantly-- without warning-- burst into the saddest most exhausted tears I've ever seen come out of that girl!! We were stunned at her outburst and just as I went to talk to her, a "Cast Member" (which is any Disney employee, including the trash sweepers) appears out of NOWHERE and is at eye level with Jo saying, "What's the matter Princess? Do you want your own ice cream?" Josie didn't stop her sobbing and nodded. So the lady says, "Don't worry I'll be right back..." She returned 15 secs later with a new full cup of ice cream all for herself. My mouth dropped! I couldn't believe what that lady just did! I turned to say "Thank you, but we're trying to teach our children good behavior, etc, you undermined my parenting etc...(I had a whole speech come to me in that one instant)..." But the lady was GONE! I mean she was no where! She appeared out of nowhere then just disappeared! It was totally weird.
Anyway... moving along... after lunch we rode The Seven Dwarves Train ride. That was fun! A little faster more dips but still just right for Charlie & Josie... and me & Perry too. :) While exiting the ride we ran into the Arnold family from church! :)
On to the big guns... Space Mountain!! We all rode it except Charlie. Perry didn't want to go again & neither did I. But Kaden, Josie, & Daddy rode it 3 times today! Twice then and one more time at the end of the day. While we waited for them to ride the 2nd time, rain started pouring without a hint or sprinkle! It was craaazy! We ran for cover and waited it out. The kids had ponchos & rain coats so I let Perr, Jo, & Chuck splash in the puddles. :) The rain let up just in time for Daddy & Kaden's ride to end. Then we went and watched the Friendship play with Mickey & Friends. It was cute. But what made it great, was that Josie LOVED it! She was wearing her Frozen Elsa shirt and just wanted to dance. She tried to get her brothers to dance with her and copy the performers, but they wouldn't. So mommy & Jo danced together. It was the best! Daddy got a video.
We headed over to use our fast pass at Peter Pan's flight, but were a little early. Since the Small World ride was right across the way and the wait time was only 5mins, we went on it... with much regret later! I never rode that ride in all my times growing up near Disneyland and all the times i went. Never rode it. Now I know why. There is nothing more repetitive or maddening than that song.I sincerely feel awful for the employees. Jo & Chuck loved it! Kaden & Perry were annoyed. There's a video of that too! ha ha
We then went over and used the fast pass for Peter Pans Flight. Just before I got on the ride, I asked the employee, "Do you go to sleep at night with these songs stuck in your head?" She broke character and her face went dark as she said, "You have NO idea." yikes. It wasn't a thrill seeking ride, but it was cute and fun to look down at "the world" and Neverland. :)
An extra special bonus to our already wonderful day... I got to see one of my dear friends who was like a little sister for me: Amy Meeks Johnson! (They had already planned to be there tonight for the Mickey's Halloween party so we planned to meet up.) Her sister Julia was one of my best friends growing up. I even lived with the Meeks for a semester my freshman year of high school in Covina. The Meeks, Johnsons (Amy), and Doves (Julia's married name) all moved to northern FL the last couple years. It's a 5hr drive from Disney, so although I understand why the others couldn't make it, I was sad Julia & her mom weren't here too. But I was still so happy to see Amy, that I cried! :) It was great to meet her cute kids Oliver & Zuley and husband Adam (who my brother Warren knows from Glendora). I just love her! What a great blessing to be able to see them!
Like I said at the beginning, this was my favorite park day!
