A (long, eventful) Day. While trying to register Chuck for Kindy next Fall, we discovered we never picked up his birth certificate. We’ve never needed it until now. I picked it up today, 5yrs late. 🤫
After years of putting in on the menu board and then erasing it, I finally made Mexican Mole chicken tacos (the idea of chocolate based sauce made me nervous it would end up being a waste of chicken). And ya know what? It looked blech, but it was delicious and a hit!
Took the kids to piano, started off with a dance party and yes I forgot some of the words but who cares! 😄
While taking turns having piano lessons we like to explore the nearby empty lots starting to develop. We dig for rocks, throw dirt clods, etc. I remind myself “let them be kids” so they get dirty and throw stuff in puddles. Except today I let them wander farther. Kaden & Jo discovered “quick mud”. It looked like flat dry dirt but their feet sank right down! K jumped out fast but Jo was sinking! He quickly grabbed her arm and pulled her out. I heard her scream and thought she fell in mud. She lost her new sandals in the muck. I thought she was just bummed to be muddy when I started that video. I didn’t know she was so scared or I wouldn’t have recorded her. I tried to comfort her but she was terrified! I could only find one sandal so we walked back to our piano teacher’s house and borrowed their hose. Jo calmed and had her piano lesson while the boys and I went back to look for the other shoe. Perry stood by while I searched (and gagged). He said “dig deeper mommy!” “But I don’t want to, it’s gross!” I knew he was right though and I plunged my arm passed the elbow (it was deep!!). Eureka! Got the other sandal! Perry said “we should pray to thank Heavenly Father for finding it.” 🥰
Lesson of the day and my new motto: Dig deeper, even if you don’t want to. There is something to gain even in the muck of adversity. ☀️
This is my life. It’s messy and it’s crazy and it’s wonderful and it’s joyful and I love everything I gain each day I’m alive. I am grateful for the lessons I learned today. I am grateful Kaden immediately rescued his sister from sinking further. I am grateful for Perry’s more wise than he knows words.
