Even though daddy and the kids drove up to have lunch with me on Thursday, Spenc had been missing me and called me at lunch Friday asking me to come home that night! I laughed and said "It's only one more night...I'll be home by lunch tomorrow." But then stake leaders learned at 2pm on Friday that the roads to the camp would be closed from 7am-2pm Saturday morning for an Iron Man event, right when we were supposed to pack up and leave by 11:30am (a fact that our stake was not aware of otherwise we would've scheduled departure differently!). We leaders discussed the dilemma, had a vote, and decided we'd better take down and pack up Friday night. Heidi said, "Spencer must have stronger faith than us... he gets his wish to have you home tonight!" :) ha ha!
We kept all our same Friday night devotionals and dance fun, but left camp by 10pm. I didn't call Spencer to tell him until 11:30pm when I needed him to unlock the back door. He was tired but so happy to see me! :) The kids were shocked and overjoyed to see me in my bed Saturday morning. I really missed my crew and it was a nice welcome home.
There's really nothing else like Girl's Camp! I am so grateful Spence was able to be home with our kids so i could have this experience. I love these people with all my heart and I cherish the special bonds we made this week. I love the Fishers 1st Ward!!!
