Cool, but Hot, Indiana Dunes

To celebrate some Father's Day fun, we drove up to Indiana Dunes for a beach day. We made a spontaneous stop at the Albanese Candy Factory. We let each of the kids pick a treat. Spenc & I got a bag of gummy bears and the kids got giant rainbow lollipops. But Chuck got a little bubble gum dispenser.
It was a nice hot day to be at the beach. The sand was BURNING and the water was FREEZING! In order to withstand both we just went back and forth several times. I was the only one to go all the way under. Seriously, the water was so cold my legs went numb! But it was still fun and we played in the water quite a bit, considering. The best spot to be was right on the wet shore. The kids spent most of their time there building castles and burying each other.
Of course no trip up north is complete without stopping in at Triple X Diner for some great root beer and peanut butter burgers!  To top off a perfect day, we came home to Fishers as the sun went down and we caught a gorgeous sunset.
I live for days like these. Just family fun time, making memories, loving each other and being filled with joy. Days like today make me excited to spend eternity with these wonderful people of mine!
