It was such a gorgeous day! It was sunny and 75' with a perfect breeze.
We started the day with everyone doing chores this morning and doing them happily. Miracle! Then Spenc made some loaves of sourdough bread from a starter the Lindsays gave us. Gonna eat good tonight!
Kaden went with his friend Carter O. from school to the Monon swim center all afternoon.
Spenc & I took the other 3 kids kayaking across Geist and decided to explore the island south of us. Perry rode with me and was my first mate. Spenc took Jo & Chuck. We've talked about going over there before, but can't take boats because it's too shallow. But today felt like a good day for it.
We paddled in to a cove. It was overgrown and had the coolest trees with gnarly roots & branches! It felt like we were in a remote untouched land, totally removed from civilization. We discovered about 4 boat docks & boat lifts that were curiously sitting about. We really want to know why & how they got there. I very much wanted to get out & explore the island but there were "no trespassing" signs. So I ran my kayak aground and let Perry get out. He collected some big rocks/mini boulders and loaded them onto our kayak. It added about 25lbs. We like to collect rocks from our adventures and put them around the yard (mostly by the driveway rain spout to keep the mulch from washing away).
We paddled against the wind on the way back and the wind & motor boats were making waves... it was totally fun! As we went over the waves Jo & Charlie were sayin "put yo hands in the air like you just don't care!" Ha ha
We got back to our dock & our forearms were burnin. :) The kids swam around a bit then they happily helped me carry our rock souveneirs up the hill back to our yard. It was seriously fun. I'm sad Kaden missed it. We'll have to go back again with him.
Daddy & Josie went on a date. Josie got all dressed and even put on lip gloss and blush. :) Daddy got dressed nice to show his girl that when she's older, young men should look nice for her, cuz she's worth it. He came to her bedroom door and "picked her up" to go. They walked over to Crave and had ice cream. Daddy tried teaching her to skip on the way there. They chatted about life & school & growing up & how mommy is going to miss her when she starts Kindergarten. They had a very special time and daddy loved every second of it.
Perry & I had a little special time too. We were trying to set up a diy projector to draw a droid mural on his bed wall. But I broke the glass I drew it in. Oops. We went outside and I gave him an ice cream cone while we talked. With Perry we always end up talking about girls & future dating tips. He's pretty much convinced he's going to marry Olivia Peaden from church (but that's secret). I wouldn't mind. Her parents are wonderful people! :) After our talk we collected twigs for kindling to roast marshmallows tonight.
While waiting for Kaden, I taught Charlie how to hit a ball with a bat. The kid is a natural!! I only told him once how to hold the bat and how to stand. He swung perfectly every time and hit the ball many times! When he missed he was super close to getting it. And every time he would throw the ball back, he threw it right to me! He has amazing aim & strength and I still can't believe how good he was at bat. I made spenc come out to watch. Jo followed then we started riding bikes and swinging on the tree swing. Chuck gave Jo rides on his radio flyer trike and it made my whole heart smile.

Kaden came home just in time for dinner. Spence baked the sourdough breads and made sourdough pizzas! So good! Kaden told us all about how fun it was and how kind Mrs. Osmun is. :)
After dinner we roasted mallows & starbursts. At one point Kaden was sitting on a firepit stump, got up to grab something then went back to sit down again. As he was sitting he realized the stump was missing! He looked down, said "oh" then took one step left and sat down on his original stump. We all had a good laugh! After we had our fill, we got the kids showered & did bedtime.

These days are what true joy is. If Heaven is even a tiny fragment of days like this, Eternity is going to be overwhelmingly wonderful!!
I love my family. So very much!
